The Boyfriend Jean. My absolute favorite jean, ever. It’s the sweat pant but on such a I’m-stylish-not-that -desperate- I-feel-bloated-but-at-least-I’m-pretending-to-look-hot-yes-I-have-room-for-dessert-and-an-extra-helping-kind-of-way. I LOVE THEM. It really is the new jean, and I think it gives us ladies a lot more options to play around with the appearance of a more masculine silhouette, without the need for suits, ties, shoulder pads, and button downs. It’s a touch of cool, but still hints at that side of sexy. It’s a dude’s denim cut, but it is all lady
Sometimes though, it can be kind of hard to find the right pair. I’m happy that a lot of stores are offering their own options of Boyfriend fit, so with some patience and willingness to try on like a million different pairs, you are bound to find the perfect ones. However, if you’re like me and cursed with short legs, a big butt, and wide hips, do what I did. I went two sizes up in my normal jean size of denim. If you opt for this route, make sure you try on skinnies, anything with a wider leg opening won’t roll nicely, also a little stretch in the denim like spandex, will give the jeans a more form fitting look, but the size up will give you the slouch you’re looking for. Just a thought if you’re struggling to find a pair.
For our chill weekend out here on the coast, I opted to style my jeans with some cage heels to help lengthen my legs and give it an edgy vibe. A striped tee and statement gem had me ready for a night out, and kept it a tad on the girly side.
Try pairing your boyfriend jeans with a stiletto or strappy sandal to keep the look fem, make sure not to go too loose with your top. A relaxed tee, or button down should keep you looking casual, and feminine, but not too frumpy. With loose jeans the idea is to keep a balanced and proportioned look.
